Reflection On Google Classroom

Google classroom is a free service for educational institutions, including schools and universities. Classroom allows educators to enroll students in a digital class, which is a page for students to access their assignments, including instructions, due dates, and other helpful tools. For instance, teachers may attach Google Docs documents, Google Slides presentations, and other assorted files. Then, students can submit their assignments using their Google account.

Within the Google Classroom, students and teachers can have conversations about the assignments and task. It makes the work of the teacher easier as well as it encourages the student to learn. By using Google classroom we can have effective teaching and learning. After learning about how to create Google classroom I came to know that by using Google classroom in the school, it can be beneficial to the teacher, where they can create a forum and upload the information that they are going to teach. It can also save the precious time of a teacher where they don’t have to use paper and pen and obviously the chalk.

A teacher can also check whether each individual is participating or not and can give immediate feedback. I find many advantages in using Google Classroom. As there is a saying every advantage has its disadvantages, I found some disadvantages in using Google Classroom. We know that different student has a different learning style so a student who does not like to use technology may not participate at all and some school may not have internet access, in this case, Google classroom cannot be used effectively.

The steps for creating Google Classroom: 

1.  Open a web browser and type www.google.com 
2.  After that sign in Google app using our educational account 
3.  Go to Google Classroom and click on the plus sign 
4.  We have to choose to create a class 
5.  Need to give a name, class, and section 
6. After creating our own Google classroom, we can change the theme of the forum.

Reflection on Virtual learning center (VLE)

Virtual Learning Center is a platform for both the students and the teachers to teach and learn online. It is some kind of a learning space which could be done anywhere or at any time. When we were first introduced to the virtual learning center of Paro College of Education, it was a really new experience for all of us. In schools we were not that exposed to online learning thing and now that we have full access to internet and whatever we do are all online. It was a completely new experience for us and also a much better one.

 This learning center has made our work much easier and cheaper. Since, the notes and most assignments has to be uploaded we do not have to make an effort to print it or buy it.  It also saves most of our time. Whatever important announcements or information we had it was easily accessible to all of us. VLE had a lot of other options as well where we could have online discussion and even submit assignments online. When we were first introduced to this online virtual learning we had difficulty in using it.

 The website for virtual learning center is http://vle.pce.edu.bt/ this is the website for Paro College of Education. In order to login to this website each of us were provided with a student code and we had to create our own unique password. After logging in there are a lot of links for instance home, PCE library, time table, online exam results and all. There is even an online library and e-books as well.  This even makes library, online where we could renew the date and the book. 

There are even links for the courses that we take and it even has an online discussion forum for each course. We could have online discussion about the modules where each and every one of the students can participate and even ask doubts related to the topic that we are learning.  There could be a really effective peer learning as we can even make comments and clear peer’s doubts as well. Virtual learning has been the most effective learning for the students of university and it would even be more effective if this kind of online learning could take place in the school settings too.

Reflection on excel

During the first semester, we had a module called Functional Informational Technology (FIT) which is most commonly taught all around the world, particularly in the universities for the educational purpose. Under this module, we were introduced with the various Microsoft with different kinds of tools such as MS, PowerPoint, MS excel, etc. While introducing these various tools in the class by the tutor, I felt much confident and was excited to learn more about technologies because I was not well informed about the technologies. This used to be the reason for me to always visit the ICT labs whenever I used to get free time.

By using the MS. Excel or spreadsheet, what I have learned is that it allows us to define the structure of information we need to manage with ease and this spreadsheet software is very easy to use and data is managed in a systematic ways. From the large amount of data entered in the spreadsheet, we can easily analyze and summarize the large amount by using graph features that is existing in the MS. Excel. Excel is a versatile tool and can be used for creating calendars, charts, diagrams, forms, reports, schedules and time table sheets which helps us and allows us to enhance the overall functionality of excel features. I found it useful to use spreadsheet in recording and making the result sheets of the students.

Excel sheet performs the calculations where it consumes less time for the calculation of large data. I have noticed that in the formulae address, if the formulae is entered wrong, then excel would not perform the calculation. Thereby, it always reminded me to enter the correct formulae in the formulae address bar. Filtering is powerful tool that can allow the data to quickly examine the data and reduces the visible rows based on the certain criteria. Moreover, we can also learn a lots of vocabularies by using excel because it will automatically correct the words if we have typed them incorrectly. 

MS. Excel is commonly used and it is still the most favored and used spreadsheet software around the globe. It helps us to manipulate, manage and analyze data for decision making and creating efficiencies. Excel provides us with the right tools to enable ourselves to accomplish what we need. It is commonly used across the business to display the financial information and other data relevant to the business. In the education sector, such as in schools, colleges and institutes, the administration and the tutor uses spreadsheet for maintaining the records of the students. I find it very convenient to use and it also saves our time and we can use the saved time in other productive activities like reading, writing, sporting, etc.

Reflection on Camtasia

Compare to our olden days, learning has changed a lot because of the advancement of the technology, where teachers’ can use different methods to teach student. One of the methods that we can teach students is by using Camtasia studio. Camtasia studio is two products in one, the screen recorder and video maker and editor. It is capable of creating powerful, interactive and professional videos that can be used for wide range of project such as making YouTube videos, educational videos and videos related to the topic that we are going to teach. I have found Camtasia the most appropriate and convenient while recording, editing the videos and it is also user friendly.

Before I was introduced to Camtasia, I heard people talking a lot about Camtasia but I didn’t use it as I didn’t have any idea about it. After learning and using Camtasia software, I had used it and I notice that it is much easier to use. It is also useful for making presentation interactive and fun learning. It allows and helps us to record PowerPoint presentations with special voice-over just pressing the record button of Camtasia. It also enhances better understanding for the audience and its make our work beautiful with different animation and simulation.

In Camtasia studio, we can record our voice by clicking the record button. We can import video or picture from our computer and edit it using the features of Camtasia. It is also easy for us to edit both the video and the audio. It is easy to arrange the videos, audios and images on an unlimited number of tracks. We can also edit anything with Camtasia studio, from editing visual effects to adding animation.  Moreover, Camtasia software can add interactivity functions to our videos.

There are different types of features in Camtasia studio which I have learned in this module ICT in teaching and learning are using transition in the video, inserting video, music where I can make video interesting. We can also insert images, inserting caption and recording screen with and without a webcam. As a future teacher, I can use this concept in the teaching and learning context as teaching-learning materials and I think it can help student understand better and make teaching and learning interesting. Moreover, the student can be motivated and become active an active learner.

REFLECTION ON MICROSOFT PUBLISHER

Over the past semester I have been learning about how to create our own newsletter, certificate, birthday cards and invitation card so on. When we first started using Microsoft publisher I had no idea how particular we have to create. After learning through tutor I had learned how to create newsletter, different types of certificate, birthday cards and so on. Microsoft Publisher, a publication program, is an excellent resource for any classroom. Using Microsoft Publisher to create my business card, our group poster, and our group newsletter has taught me many beneficial skills needed to work with this program. I learned that Published can be used for creating many other projects besides business cards, newsletters, and posters. Example: POSTER I have learned that Microsoft publisher is easier to use in making cards than using a Microsoft word. Microsoft publisher is easy and simple to use; the graphics are easily imported and formatted; there are numerous templates to choose from; and Microsoft publisher has features that Microsoft word doesn’t have. Microsoft Publisher can be used to create brochures, flyers, postcards, calendars, websites, and so much more. Working with Microsoft Publisher has provided me with many ideas of how I can incorporate this publication program into my future classroom to make learning fun an exciting.  Exploring Microsoft Publisher, I learned how to use the many features of the program. I learned how to create logos, preview different font and color schemes, convert publications for viewing on the internet, and how to create professional looking layouts using Publisher are many templates. I also discovered that Microsoft Publisher can be used in many the same ways as Microsoft Word such as inserting images, drawing, and Word Art. Working with and learning the skills associated with Microsoft Publisher, would greatly benefit  in my future careers and others too.

REFLECTION ON MICROSOFT WORD

Reflection is what allows us to learn from our experiences: it is an assessment of where we have been and where we want to go next. ~Kenneth Wolf. Learning is a daily process. Learning happens not consciously but also subconsciously as well. Referring to those days, I should say I have learned both consciously and subconsciously as well. Hence, it helped me grow both professionally as well as personally. I should say learning gives us the full opportunity to every need. I should say with this I can able to implement those learnt theory into practice.

 I will first reflect on my use of Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word is equitable, due to the design being useful and marketable for a variety of people, including teachers, business professionals, and a long list of many other occupations. It is also flexible in use in how Microsoft Word provides a wide variety of templates for the user’s specific needs, including a template for making a brochure, newsletter, blank document, flyer, etc. It also has a useful tool bar that provides ways to insert charts, tables, clip art and much more. 

This provides the users with a wide range of choices in which method to use and the ability to use tools that are best suitable for their needs. The Microsoft Word program has perceptible information since the programs design includes a toolbar that is easy to use. With the help of Microsoft word we have created teaching learning material for the lower classes like to translate alphabets to words and also inserted the image related to the alphabets. And also, with the help of word we have created the lesson plan which can be use as future references. with this when i was at teaching practice i have created lesson plan using word.

Microsoft Word also meets the principle of being low physical effort to use in that it is simple enough to use and that it doesn’t cause much effort to use. Microsoft Word is a great tool for typing notes instead of having to hand-write notes, which can take almost double the time! Microsoft Word also has a review tool called “tracking” that is helpful if teachers want to make comments on papers or it can even track any comments or changes you want to the reader to be aware of when they read your paper. The one principle I feel like Microsoft Word does not meet is size and space.
